Windows install error

I bought a new mobo and new CPU, but am using an old HDD. When I start the computer up the windows logo comes up and then the BSOD flashes and the computer resets.
After researching this, it seems to have to do with the drivers on the HDD and that a fresh install is the way to remedy this. So i burned Windows 7 Iso onto a DVD.

The disc loads to the install screen(asks for language, keyboard ect..) I click next and then I get a screen that says

"a required cd/dvd drive device is missing. Of you have a driver floppy dis,cd, dvd or usb flash please insert it now"
I click ok and it scans for device drivers and I get another error message saying
"No device drivers were found, make sure that the installation media contains correct drivers. click ok"

I have updated the bios to the latest version and have tried burning 4 different DVD's with different write speeds (and verifying them as well)
I get the same result as above. I am at a loss on what to do.

 

CPU: 4690k
Mobo: Asrock z97 pro3

I had this problem, with an SSD I got out of a laptop. I installed Windows on the laptop, took it out and put it in my PC, installed drivers and it worked perfect.

 

If you got the drive out of another device, try repeating what I did.

 

It could also be the hard drive itself, the sata cable, or even the motherboard. Try using another sata cable, in another sata port on the mobo. If that doesn't work, try installing on another HDD, and see if it still happens. If not, than it's obviously the old HDD

I have switched the cables and the slots and I am still getting the same result. However, I don't see how the HDD could be bad. It was working with the old hardware so I don't see why it wouldn't work now.

Do you have any other hard drives installed? Also, make sure the drive you're installing on is completely wiped.

I figured it out finally.

I changed two things at once, so I am not sure which it was, but here is what worked.

1. Made a bootable usb drive instead of DVD

2. Changed the iso file to Windows 7 Enterprise

I didn't remember that I had Enterprise on the old HDD and not Ultimate. So my guess is that it was probably the ISO file change.

2. Changed the iso file to Windows 7 Enterprise

It could also be the bootable USB. With consumer optical drives, no matter how good, or how slow of a write speed, you will never achieve the perfect copy of Windows on a DVD (besides original Windows disc, which is burnt with an industrial machine). There will always be "pieces" missing. The type of Windows installed previously shouldn't matter, as long as it's fully wiped.

That was the problem, It wasn't wiped. I had no way of wiping it at the time, so I had to do a custom install of windows and all of my previous files went into window.old
