CHIPSETS

I am planning to build a gaming pc but i would like to know what chipsets the intel 4790k and the 4690k processors are and if possible could some one recommend some decent but not to expensive mother boards compatible with these processors and a Invidia GTX 970.

Z97 chipset.

 

I have a strong bias toward Asus motherboards, so someone else should recommend a motherboard.

I used to buy everything Asus, but got a bit tired of their high prices - I still run an Asus GFX card and mobo in my other, older PC (Core 2 Duo E8500).

 

I'd suggest taking a look at MSI.

 

The Z97 Gaming series (Gaming 3, 5, 7 & 9) is their mid-tier motherboards, while the Z97 MPower boards are more expensive and made for overclocking.  Not overclocking a 4790K is a sin btw

 

For a GTX 970 I'd also suggest MSI, the GTX 970 Gaming 4G comes to mind.
