I know a bit about computer, but I don't really know what parts I need to look for
I want to build a rig that can render and edit videos for work projects and youtube, but can also play a few games and be my leisure computer (games like League of Legends, CSGO, good looking games too like BF4)
I'm pretty sure this will be quite a bit of money so I was thinking a price range of 1500, is that too little?

Thanks for the help if you do!

@bmwm3186 I right clicked on desktop and clicked on resolution and the highest it goes is 1366x768
I don't know much about this, but to my eyes it looks fine but this monitor is quite old being about 4 years ish so I think it may be time to get a new one

This I would consider a good build for $1500, it will crush 1080p, basically any game, and will render like a boss. Also, you can overclock it, if you want to.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($318.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($100.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($124.00 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($348.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer  ($14.98 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit)  ($92.00 @ B&H)
Total: $1471.88
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

he doesnt need an i7 for gaming, he probably wont be overclocking anytime soon, (up to him) that MSI board is garbage(imo), the h100i is not that great either and they have a new version of that ssd

He said he wanted to render, an i7 definitely helps for video rendering. The MSI board is okay, it just lacks the awesome features of higher-end boards. And the newer version, the 850 EVO, is just slightly faster

I agree, I prefer ASUS or Gigabyte, but the board is cheap. An H81 board and a simple E3-1230v3 Xeon will take care of editing needs, as well as gaming. The 850 would be adviseable and a water cooler is overkill, but still nice to have.

If you can fit a watercooler into the budget, well, why not :P?

in rendering the xeon will do just fine i dont like MSI boards because of the quality control issues they have. the 850 evo isnt that much more expensive than the 840 and it has that newer NAND

I agree here, but I don't think the Xeon can handle gaming needs as well as an equally priced i5-4690k
