So I was taking my Acer V3-572PG laptop apart to replace the hard drive because the stock one is painfully slow and when disconnecting the keyboard (edit: ribbon..why was I thinking IDE?) cable from the motherboard the connector literally came off without me putting any force into it what so ever. I've taken laptops apart several times before and I've never broken one of these things, really not sure how it happened. Can I just solder the connector back on the motherboard some how? Or can I just yolo it and tape the cable from the keyboard onto the motherboard (lol)?

I tried the last method btw, didn't really work out as you may have guessed.

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

I had this happen with the cpu fan header on my old laptop. I just stuck it back in place and it worked fine. :D

It's not an IDE cable, it's a ribbon cable. IDE applies to hard drives only.

You could try soldering it.

Derp derp really not sure why I said IDE, guess I'm just not on my game today lol.

you could solider it back on...but good fucking luck lol and it probably won't even work right at the end

you might just have to get a new board.

if you can find a replacement connector (or try this one) you might be able to put it on by the supports on the sides, and maybe put it in the oven to melt the solider so itll make a connection. last resort i guess
