Hard drive not formatting

Go to solution Solved by I Am The JK Man,

None of that has done the job so I am going to get the replaced as I think it is broken because it gets errors trying to do everything even writing 0s to the drive

Help, I took my 2TB WD red out of raid 1 when I did so I went to format it. after 30sec of formatting it says "Failed to format  to format disk". I have tried all the ways to format drives and I have updated every thing as well as unplugging it and plunging it back in. It is hard for me to understand as it was working in the raid just before.

Parts list is set to private when we click to view. What formatting tool are you using? When you click start, type disk management does it prompt you to pick MBR or GPT for the new disk? Does it appear as one of the drives in the machine in disk management?

Hello there!

It is a quite annoying problem you have!

If you can't reformat the drive, this could be caused by a corrupted partition or the connection isn't very good.

I would suggest first wiping the drive, clearing it from previous format and partitions and then reformat it. You could use the WD Data Lifeguard support to do this:

Best of luck! :)

If you think I helped, like!  :P
