Secure erase HDD?

NAVSTER

Hi Folks,

I've used Gparted many times to secure erase my SSD's over the years, just wondering is it safe to use on traditional mechanical hard drives?

Thanks again

Why are you trying to erase your Hard drives? Honestly after many formats and erasings your stuff is still there. If you are getting rid of it, open it up and shatter the disc inside.

My Western digital black is abnormally slow, writing speeds are not what they used to be.

Found WD own software to write zero's so will try that, read reports that secure erasing can erase bios which will render it unusable
