Help Installing Dad's Television

Go to solution Solved by multitasker451,

Then get another. Also try going through the Tv's inputs.

This worked along with the component cables

My dad bought a new Sony Bravia Smart Television and I'm trying to help him install it.  We can't figure out how to connect the television to the DVR and the manual is no help.  I've attached pictures of the back of the DVR and television.  If you know what the problem is, please help us.

You need a composite cable in order to connect the DVR to the TV

Can you describe to me what that looks like because I might have one.

Take 1 row of plugs (red, white and yellow) from your DVR and connect them to the row (same colors, same order) on your TV. You should already have the cable.

It should look like this: https://italiantv.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/200074376/composite-cable.jpg

My dad's DVR isn't an HD DVR.  It was connected to the television via an s-video cable.

When I lived in the US, we had our cable box conntected with a coaxial cable to the TV. Does the Receiver say "Out to TV" where I made the arrow? Also can you tell us the model number of that receiver?

I tried that, didn't work.  I think his DVR is too old for the television

The model number is R16-300.  I don't see that you made an arrow

We have a coaxial cable connecting the DVR to the wall, and there is a place for it to go in the television as well, but we'd need another one.

Look, we're getting a new service installed in one week.  We have another television that connects to the DVR the way the old one did.  Should we just install that television and wait until installers come to help us set it up?

If you dont mind waiting, then that'd be the advisable way to go, as theyll have the stuff you need.

I tried going through all of the inputs.  Will anything else need to be connected besides the coaxial cable to the television?

Either a coaxial or an RGB (the red/yellow/white connectors). I have the same Tv and I use the RGB cables with my AT&T (ew) cable box.
