Me and a few mates are trying to start up an IT company, just basic stuff really e.g. repairs, new builds, set up etc. but our problem is that its hard to compete with all the large computer companies out there these days.We are still at the point of trying to get our company name out there and get some business but it is quite difficult to do.

What i am asking for is some ideas for some things that can help set us apart from other larger companies.

here is a link to our companies website it is still under construction is some aspects.

Websites like newegg and amazon are not clear they are cluttered with info and slow loading pages even with a high computer/good connection

this makes choosing your hardware a slow process

what i would do is create a PC builder in flash/java/HTML5 what ever you guys are good with and up to date prices etc

something like http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/

its a dutch website that compares prices with other businesses etc and shows shop reviews

i would love that to be more integrated with a good hardware store

sadly enough NCIX lacks this too maybe you will be the first to do this

the point behind all this is to let even the stupidest clients create their own build (believe me some clients are stupid)

you wil then assemble and send the product to the client

shopping at home is what people do these days (well at least Europeans do it en mass)

filter options on the left side is what keeps me going on pricewatch :D so easy to use and you dont get lost trying to search something!

another website Azerty.nl

this is just a example:

http://azerty.nl/winkelmandje/winkel...%5B498435%5D=1

it remembers what i put in the shopping cart with just 1 simple link i can share this link with others this way you dont need to create profiles and people can share thoughts on what to build into their pc

this is not possible with newegg or amazon

If you are trying to do eCommerce or selling services or products online, I would recommend Magento, its has a business and open source edition, and it has a very great community behind it. You can easily modify the templates or even make your own through guides on Youtube. If you are serious about your business, give magento a shot. I've used it myself for setting up a website for my cousin's business.

Good start, but fill in the blanks. Pictures of computers or computer parts in your backgrounds on the site. Then, be different but not weird. Listen to your customers (even if they are wrong or not so computer savvy), make sure they understand what you will do for them (get it down on paper), some will envision you hand holding them all the way to clicking the login button others will want you to build a computer and leaving the rest to them. Repeat business sometimes means eating your ego but collecting more business.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Im Planing on taking some pictures of the next few PC builds and the parts and using them in the back ground etc.

The way its designed the way it is because if you look at it on a Tablet pc it looks awesome and still looks pretty good full sized.

I reckon you should try to get rid of some of the text on the "Services" page or rearrange the boxes somehow so that you don't have to scroll down to see all the services. Also it might be good to center align the top buttons. Other than that, it looks a lot better than most other small businesses sites.

I am talking to my mate who is charge of the website now and im getting him to change the services page.

We still think that the buttons look better on the right than having it all centered in the page.
