Wondering as of now what is performance difference if any with ddr3 vs ddr4? If your building a high end 1000$ pc should you use ddr4?

The new X99 platform needs you to use DDR4, where as the older platforms can only use DDR3. So it depends on what platform you are using, there is no choice with the RAM type itself.

You wont see any big improvements with ddr4. I'd just stick to ddr3.

5820K, 5930K and 5960X. Everything else is DDR3.

If you want one of those X99 CPUs, then DDR4 is a must. But don't get one of those CPUs just because of DDR4.

Wow expensive man 450$ cheapest cpu that works with ddr4?

No thanks i mostly just play games any way.

It's called "Extreme" for a reason. Like I said, you should choose this CPU because you need something of this calibre, and not for the sake of fancy new RAM.

RAM speeds don't affect gaming performance anyway, even within DDR3.

No point in ddr4 unless your going to be utilizing a 6 core intel cpu. Or the 4 core x99 and more then 2 gpu's.

4 core X99? Is that Xeon or something? I wasn't aware of such a thing.
