Hi, I'm new here, and also new to the building scene..

I am not too sure if I need to go for an i7 or i5 CPU, so I was wondering which I should buy:

- i7 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-3-60GHz-Cache-Socket-Bridge/dp/B006WVVA28/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1357289428&sr=8-3)

or this:

- i5 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Generation-i5-3570K-3-40GHz-Technology/dp/B007RUZKK6/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1357289593&sr=1-1)

I will be recording games (Guild Wars 2 will be the most demanding out of the ones I want to record) and processing videos as well as maybe live-streaming games too so I was wondering which would be better?

Also will be getting these parts:

- Corsair CMPSU-800GUK

- Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM

- Corsair H100i

- Asus Rampage IV Gene Motherboard

- Asus AMD Radeon HD 7850

- Western Digital 2TB SATA 6Gbps Hard Drive

- Aerocool X-Predator X3 (in Orange/Black) Gaming Case

Oh and last thing - Should I buy an SSD to put Windows and my favourite games on? I've heard that SSD's are good and heard that they're bad, so I'm not too sure..

Thanks :)

If you are going to use this rig mainly for gaming and will occasionally do video processing and so on, then go for the 3570k/2500k instead .

If you think that you will really benefit from the extra threads on the i7 then consider the i7 2600K , it overclocks as well as the 3770K and it runs cooler + it's cheaper, the only reason intel is charging more for the 3770K is because it has better onboard graphics and because the stock performance is slightly better but once you start overclocking there really isn't much of a difference.

and you should really spend more money on the graphics card, something like an HD 7970 would be perfect.

As for the motherboard any of these would be excellent :

Gigabyte UD3, UD5

MSI GD65 GD80

ASUS PRO, Sabertooth

If your recording games, you might want to consider a capture card like the Avermedia Live Gamer HD:

But I'd go for a i7 and an SSD and your rig is good for gold :) OCZ has some of the best bang for your buck ssds for example the OCZ Vertex:
