I hate to post about something so simple, but I'm looking for a good DVD ripping program.  I tried to search on Google, but all it does is link me to cnet and shit like that.

handbrake is what most people use

Handbrake is the best free solution out there, but it has limited format and codec support.

VLC can do it, just google how to do it; it will take some time to decode, and not as easy as a click of a button; but it can do it!

I've been using makeMKV to get the video off the disc, then handbrake to re encode and compress it
