The best antivirus is You. You chose where to navigate, what to open, and what to click on.

Bitdefender, Panda, Sophos are exceptional when it comes to malicious url blocking.

Agnitum Outpost (used in several other products like Avast!, AVG), InJoy Firewall, Windows Firewall and Comodo have great firewall if you are willing to configure them up properly.

Comodo and Avast have a sandboxing feature.

Norton and F-secure have really good antivirus parts, ClamAV is open-source...

Some do have backup and sync functions, some have parental control options, social media filtering, and some have easier interface, virus-free guarantee.

It's hard to tell which one fits to you.

But before you pick, make sure you look for the following: The company doesn't lie to you.

- For example Avira promices privacy and private search while setting up Ask Toolbar. I mean really.

When you choose one with backup, read the ToS and Privacy Policies.

Kick out anyone who tries to tell that his heuristic-scanner works without whitelists and popups.

Did I make you more confused than before? PCMag have nice reviews and easy to interpret 5-circle ratings. :D

Another question is, how intense do you want the software to be?  I've had free trials of Norton, and found it to be overwhelmingly intrusive, constantly asking me about everything... But then again, that's what it's supposed to do.  I just got annoyed with it.  Also, in case you didn't know, there is a difference between malware and viruses, Linus made a video on it.

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.
