Acceptable temps for 8350

Im not sure if my 8350 is throttling or not. What is the max temp for this?

I think typically you don't want to go over 80 degrees. I think CPUs generally start throttling themselves over 90 or something like that.

Heya,

What temps are you getting on your CPU?

I read that say around 62c - 65c.

That is intel temps, FX-8350 turns of automatically at 75ºc

That low? I thought the FX-8350 generated a lot of heat, especially when overclocked?

Just goes to show that it's been too long since I've built an AMD system. I see Steamroller in my future.

Still it generates lots of heat, but you just must have great cooler.

Thats why i have custom loop.

I have FX-8350@5.1Ghz and temps are max 45ºc

I can't find a official statement but i have read that AMD wants you to run that CPU at 62 °C max, but the throttling starts at 68°C, and the CPU shuts down at 75 degrees, so for an overclocked 8350 you need high end air cooler like an NH-D14, or a Silver Arrow, or you can get a h100 Kraken x60 for that, 4.5 is doable on high end air and a closed loop, but if you want that bleeding edge 5 ghz, custom loop is a must...

Well I've been hearing about 62°C max for the chip and 72°C for the socket.

I get around 50-55°C on my chip with prime95 running with 1.440 volts and 4.6Ghz on my 8350, and that's with IC Diamond and fans turned to max on my silver arrow extreme (stock fans) and my ambient room temp is around 20°C I think.

Edit: Well I've Changed some things around now and my temps on the chip are about 46, same conditions.
