Why is it that this asus gpu has different fans? - I THINK it is a 290x. I'm not sure.

It's probably got something to do with pressure and air flow. I'd check their website on the product.

From their site:

  • Exclusive CoolTech Fan drives wider airflow to keep critical components cool.

Not a lot of info but anyway lol

It's to control the airflow through the card. The fan on the left has spaces between the blades, likely to push out the warm air.

It's hard to tell without knowing which way the fans spin.

From the design they are both rotating clockwise if that helps.

Ah so my guess is that the spacing between the blades of the left fan allows it to push more air over a wider space.

Actually if they are rotating clockwise they are pulling air from inside the card. I don't mean to doubt you but they should be spinning counter-clockwise to blow air onto the card right? That and the sticker on the back of the fan is a good indication of which way they spin. At least with all my experience with several gpu's and an abundance of fans I have yet to find one to spin clockwise and 'suck' the air from the interior of the card. That would be a really inefficient way to cool a card as well.

And actually going off the link from overclocker's website on their review of the card, they show that the air is being sucked in and blown into the cooling fins and across the pcb, so they would have to spin counter-clockwise. Sorry for being so straightforward but that really bugged me.
