I think it was a Tech Under $100 vid, Linus had a SATA to USB cable for connecting a wireless dongle internally i/o having it sticking outside the case.

My mobo (EP45-UD3) only has USB2, same with font of case.

My question is - Could the same cable be used to (if extended to outside the case) connect a USB3 memory stick or USB3 ext hdd to get faster data transfer speeds through the SATA2 port on the mobo????

Help me Obi-wan you're my only hope :-))))

doh - , nevermind - it's "Handy Tech Under $100 - Ep 6" and it's a internal usb2 header adapter, not a sata - usb cable :-(((

Sata to usb is pretty much what an external drive does already.

That could work only if the ext hdd already has external power since many 2.5" ext hdd's pull power through the usb cord which sata will not provide.
