GPU and CPU overheat

On idle, my GPU hovers around 50c and my CPU hovers around 55c.  Under load, the GPU gets up to 85c and the CPU over 90c.  I have an Alienware x51.  Is it time for a new system with better air flow and components?

Definitely. Those temps are too high for a normal pc.

Try adjusting your fan curve with something like MSI Afterburner for lower gpu temps. And if you can then install a liquid cooler. You don't need a completely new system.

Would a liquid cooler even fit in an x51?  That case barely has any room to put a hair.

Ahh i just looked up the case. First of all you DEFINITELY need a new case. I recommend the Phanteks Enthoo Pro or the Zalman MS800

Just cleaned it 5 mins before doing a stress test.

i7 4770, 760 blower, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, idk if im forgetting anything.

Ahh i just looked up the case. First of all you DEFINITELY need a new case. I recommend the Phanteks Enthoo Pro or the Zalman MS800

How old is it? Have you thought about changing the thermal paste? Don't bother spending any money until you've done the simple stuff first. Nothing in your PC is technically overheating. The CPU is close though and above comfortable range. The GPU temps are perfectly normal though.

up to 150.  i really like the corsair obsidian series look.

With a budget of £150 you could the Corsair Graphite 780T which has AMAZING cooling.

Buy some thermal paste, and change it.. cpu ang gpu, because every stock thermal paste is bad.. get some good ones.. form akasa or something else... Do not buy the cheap ones!
