Ok. In the simplest form, If i connected two routers, My second (non main) DOES NOT Need the universal internet thingy that is plugged outside and uses the main router for that?

If you plug the WAN of one router into the LAN of the other, then they both will have internet without needing an additional modem(so yes). I do this at my house and it works just fine(you might need to do port fowarding to interact with devices on the second router from the first router).

Ok... Makes sense. But do I need to have both routers connected to eachother at all times or can they be wireless (its fine if they need to be connected)

Hey Captain,

You are asking a very specific question without giving us the information, as for connecting the Lan of the first router to the WAN of the second I am not sure that will work and even if it does the second router is going to be doing a second round of nat on the connection (not ideal), you would be better plugging it in LAN to LAN and just using the switch of the second router, you would need to turn off the second routers DHCP for that to work though.

If your second router supports "wireless WAN" or a range extender mode, then you can connect them wirelessly, but if not then they will have to be connected with ethernet at all times(unless if you don't need 24/7 internet).

Here is the set up that I am currently dealing with(since I am diagnosing families internet), but it goes from the black box(Modem) to a DLink router(vertical), then to a Tenda router(horizontal), and I am connected to the Tenda currently. At my house though, I have my 2 routers separatd with 150ft. of cable though, so it actually covers my entire house.
