My school science fair project is to test how different thermal paste affects CPU temperature over time (how well they conduct heat, I guess). I want to do an hour stress test and record temperatures (unless running it for an hour is a bad idea?). I am a new user of Zorin OS (a fork of Ubuntu), I have been using it for maybe 3 months. I am not too familiar with the terminal and I have no idea how to compile sources (tried and failed multiple times). I need software that I can use to stress test the CPU and record temperatures. Here are my system specs.

You should be able to install lm-sensors since it is a 'buntu: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SensorInstallHowto

and you can type openssl speed in terminal to work the CPU hard(it will only last a few minutes). I'm sure there is a Prime95 alternative if you need that.

Edit: No need for an alternative, there is a Linux version of P95: http://www.mersenne.org/download/#download
