Hey guys, I decided to make this thread due to a couple of parts from my build that I would like to change.

When it comes to helping other people with their builds I have no problems selecting components but when it's my own, I seem to sometimes go over the top in certain areas of the build or overlook better options.

This is my current set up which I have built over the last two years or so, please note that the purchase amounts are not correct for the most part. (I know the PSU is very overkill for this build but I managed to get it at an extremely good price that was too good to turn down.)

I am now looking to downsize from the C2 and build a M-ATX sized computer, using the Corsair 240.

I will be looking to use some parts from my current computer but also upgrade certain aspects of the PC. I would like to go with a white & black colour scheme although It may be difficult due to both pricing and getting components that are compatible with this case.

Below is a build which I have put together using some items from my current build.

The CPU seems to be overkill for gaming but unfortunately the motherboard that I like does not allow me to pick many other cheaper options.

Budget - £800 / $1,200 although this figure is not final

Location - United Kingdom

Aim - Be able to play all games @ 1080p with possibility to be able to upgrade GPU to play at 4K in the future.

Monitors - Current monitors although I am looking to purchase a 4K monitor eventually, once they are a more realistic option.

Peripherals - Current ones.

I would appreciate all feedback as this is my first M-ATX build and is at the opposite end of the spectrum compared to my current case. The items that I have listed are subject to change and I don't mind swapping them out for better options.

Many thanks,

Please, instead get a i5-4690k or i7-4790k and not the 5820k. Trust me on this, you'll spend a fortune on the ram and motherboard when you could instead recycle the ram from your old machine instead.

If you're gaming and especially if you're looking at possibly 4k. A MUCH better idea would be this:

i5-4690k (or i7-4790k)

Any Z97-based MATX Motherboard (like the Asus RoG Impact)

2x GTX780

For the 800GBP, you could SLI with a second GTX780 and achieve much better performance than you would be going overkill on Ram / CPU with X99. Everyone wants the fancy shiny new parts but in your case you're wasting money here.

You could also try sell the GTX780 and use the money saved by NOT getting X99 and possibly SLI GTX970s which would give you stellar performance.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

I get carried away with my own build and sometimes end up picking 'shiny' high end parts when I really shouldn't haha. I have taken your advise onboard and changed the build slightly
