Hello, As of recent I have noticed my current computer is getting a bit too old for the newer games that I want to play and already own...

I am running around 10-20 fps on Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag with everything on absolute lowest possible settings... I plan on playing The Crew as well so my pc would pretty much kill itself if I even tried booting that one up...

My current list of gear is...

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB SC ACX 2.0 Cooling

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova G1 650W, 80+ Gold, Modular
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A

Processor: Intel Core i7 4790K 4Ghz, 8MB

Chassis: be quiet! Silent Base 800 Black/Orange

RAM: 2x4 GB Corsair 1600Mhz CL9 VENGEANCE LP (8GB Total)

OS: Windows 8 64-bit (OEM) (Standard)

I'm getting word from people around me that I shouldn't go with a G1 Power Supply but they can't give me a specific reason just tells me to get a G2 instead.

Would like to make a quick verification with knowing people if the build I have is stable and upgradeable for the future if I ever so desire.

The total of this build should total out at ~$1400 (10800 SEK)

If anyone has any recommendations for swapping of specs it'd be appreciated.

RAM is not included in the final price as I already have those in my possesion, Everything else listed has not been bought yet. I plan on buying in burts where as Chassis, OS and Power Supply is the first few things I will be getting.

Secondly I'll be trying to get the Motherboard and CPU and lastly I would buy the Graphics Card, If I have money over (not highly likely) I would look into expanding upon my RAM and maybe an SSD when time comes.

Any particular reason for switching from Nvidia based card?

I've got 2 BenQ monitors which are optimized for Nvidia systems...

unless they are gsync they cant be optimized for a certain brand besides having a logo on them

also the switch is because they are basically just as powerful as each other but the 290(x) is cheaper

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Yes they are

Nvidia made 3D Vision 2.0 glasses

did a bit of research and found this

AMD HD3D requires displayport to get 1080p @ 60hz per eye or HDMI 1.4a to get 720p @ 60hz per eye.

Nvidia 3D Vision requires DL-DVI to get 1080p @ 60hz per eye.

I have not seen an Nvidia 3D Vision monitor support Displayport, but I have one that does have HDMI 1.4a as well as the DL-DVI connection. As far as I'm aware, and from my experience, AMD's HD3D does not require any specific standard other than HDMI 1.4a or displayport to work.

If the monitor you are looking at has Displayport as an option, there should not be a reason it wouldn't work on the AMD system, but I have not used that monitor, but the Nvidia 3D vision monitor in my sig does work with HDMI 1.4a, the other standard AMD works with.

did a bit of research and found this

Taking into consideration as well my past with AMD and Radeon it hasn't been well... I have yet to see an AMD system last the times my computers tend to... I also have yet to see a Radeon card that doesn't deside to be faulty when I buy it...

I have a lot of bad experiences with AMD and Radeon in the past years which is why my family decided to stay away and stick to Intel - Nvidia systems instead. We have ever since...

The price difference in the 2 cards btw is only ~$30-$35 in sweden, so it isn't that big of a difference.

about the same as 2 970's go for it

The setup I originally posted was poking the limit, Switching my Motherboard to an MSI Z97-S02 that I can buy packaged with an i5 4690K 3.5Ghz CPU for a reduced price and then removing the excess RAM or Reducing it to another set of 8GB as I already have 8GB Laying that I plan on using I can bring down the price a bit but offer some performance at the edges.
