Hey

I have just built a new computer using the Corsair CX500 PSU. All parts are connected:

-24 pin motherboard connector

-4 pin CPU connector

-8 pin + 6pin PCIE

-HDD Connector

Other colorful case cables have also been plugged in.

Upon plugging the PSU in and switching it on, not only do no parts start but the PSU remains lifeless (No LED's or anything) :(

I have also tried powering the PSU with nothing plugged in but still no luck!

Help! Thanks :)

So you've attempted to jump start the power supply? If it doesn't work, then the power supply is dead..

if the PSU fans does not spin(the ones under the PSU) then its dead, have you switched it on yet?

Damn, it must be dead then. Can static charge kill a PSU. The GPU was slightly too large for the case, so I used a saw to cut through the metal HDD holder and make more space. ALL PARTS were removed before doing this however the PSU was still inside. Maybe that killed it?

The switch is on. An easy miss I guess.

I dont think Static electricity can kill a PSU, though i may be wrong(have to look into that soon).

No. Static electricity cannot kill a power supply. I don't think the saw killed the power supply. Even if you cut it a little, I doubt you hit a component.

maybe sawdust or some other shit got into the psu and that might have killed it

If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough it will be believed.

OP, did any metal get into or onto the power supply?(I'm fairly doubtful of that)

well that was the only thing i could think of

oh and by the way OP that was just stupid leaving stuff in your case when your modding it

It was way above the area in which I sawed so I doubt it.

I think I will send it back to scan.co.uk and see what they can do.

That's good to know as it means the product was likely shipped faulty.. not like Corsair to have faulty products though.

I didn't express my doubt in a demeaning way. At least, I didn't intend it that way.

I did state that only the PSU was left in, well above the area in which I sawed.

(not trying to sound angry or anything) doesnt matter you just dont leave stuff in there

I didn't interpret it in that way and appreciate the advice. It just did not seem nesissary to remove it, which I regret now as it may of have saved me this hassle.

Either way I am greatful for the feedback.
