amd 6 core with a high end GPU is a lot better in most applications.

i would chose 6 core with higer end cpu if you need idea for setup see todays video from linus

Mid range cpu+ High end Gpu is always better in my opinion. A good example of this is like a haswell i5 and a 290/290 or 970/980. I'm very happy with my 4440 and my 970
