SLI worth it?

Go to solution Solved by Guest Kloaked,

You'll gain more than what you will lose by one of the cards running at a lower clock speed. Plus you can always overclock them both to something stable.

You'll get more than 980 performance, that's for sure.

Hello!

I was just wondering if it was a good idea to SLI a FTW EVGA 970 and a SC EVGA 970?

What I want to purchase: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487077&cm_re=970_FTW-_-14-487-077-_-Product

What I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487066

What performance would I be looking at gaining, or losing on the FTW?

You don't need it unless you're running multiple 1080p or 1440p monitors or trying to get good performance on a single 4K monitor.

Your CPU will bottleneck the shit out of two 970's, even 1 will be bottlenecked.

Wow, such fast responses. :D Thanks!

What would be the ideal minimal/recommended PSU for a machine to run two SLI 970's with 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz, and AMD FX 8150? 750w? or something higher. (Plan on doing minimal OCing)

Does anyone have a answer to this? Thank you!

750w is fine. I've seen reports of people getting away with 650w PSUs on 970 SLI, but 750w should have you covered.
