What's going on here?

So back in July I decided to upgrade to an i7-3770k from my i5-3570k for the extra threads, as I was video editing and rendering at the time. However as the months went on I began to have crashes from my game to my desktop. The game would still be running however it would be minimized to the windows tray. However I also bought a different graphics card, and I thought it might be this so I decided to benchmark and stress it. I can honestly say this is the only GPU that I have tested in Uningine and NOT ONCE to have crashed. So I had hyperthreading on my i7-3770k and it was clocked to 4.5 GHz. SO i ran Prime95 and it was rock solid for almost 24 hours.

I've made sure that no wires are touching each other and that everything is plugged in correctly. However before the replacement of the i5 with the i7 I had NO PROBLEMS like this. What do you guys think it could be? Should I re-seat my processor?

THANKS!

You cant base stability off a single program, different loads will cause things to crash even if its 100% stable in one benchmark. I would suggest lowering either your GPU or CPU clocks a bit and seeing how it goes, or better yet to narrow it down put one of them to stock speeds and see if the problem persists, if it does try it with the other.

I've literally changed the PCI Express lane that the graphics card is in. I've turned off hyperthreading and taken the clock down to 4.2GHz with 1.26V. I've also turned off any overclocking on the graphics card. Along with replacing my drivers with a clean install. I think the next step could a be a reinstallation of Windows 7.

What program keeps failing? Is it just the one program or is it multiple programs?

You said you updated drivers, which ones? I would check your board manufacturer for BIOS updates and also check for chipset driver updates since you switched CPUs. I've used Slimdrivers with moderate success so if you want a program to do all that research for you, give that one a shot.
