Open or Closed

I was thinking of getting the Audio Technica AUD ATHAD500X's but there is a living space outside my room and I can occasionally hear load explosions and sometimes people yelling, but with my current headphones it drowns it out (they are closed) would I affect the ability to hear the sound of my headphone.

My question is should I go for the closed version of this headphone or stick with the open. (People say open is better sound)

If explosions and yelling are coming from outside your area you should probably forget about headphones and start planning alternate habitation.

When you have sound playing through open headphones it's hard to hear things around you; the real difference between open and closed is the sound leakage out of the headphone itself.
