Over clocking my GPU

Go to solution Solved by nhatduy1611,

What am I looking for here: the limit of my GPU or the FPS?

Im using furmark to stress it.... but when I increase the clock and stuff.... Its fps is all over the place

So am I looking for the limit of my GPU or the Maximum FPS I can get

When you start to see artifact or when the programs just crash that is when you should turn the oc down. And try multiple benchmarks and games also i like to use 3dmark firestrike and unigine heaven and vally

I was wondering about how much I could overclock my GPU.

I have the Sapphire Dual-x Radeon R9 270X 2gb Over Clock Edition.

I just need some help figuring out the general area my GPU can handle.

Thanks!

You should just ask the lottery. There is really no way to know it, aside for testing. Sometimes a card overclocks a ton more than another one from the same model and brand.

Try OCing a bit, the stress test it for ~4h, without using the PC and with as little strain on the CPU as possible (remove internet, close antivirus, finish steam, close the web browser, etc.). If it doesn't crash nor any artifacts appear, try pushing the OC further and repeat the process until it eventually crashes. Then, get the last stable OC and try a CPU stress test for ~8h (say... while you are sleeping), and if that passes as well, you have your max OC. If it doesn't... tone the OC down a bit and try again!

Good luck! And patience! You'll need it.
