Don't get an R9 290 if you're going with a FX 6300. The CPU is going to bottleneck that GPU.

I just don't really find the price to benefit ratio is very good.

What's your budget, location, computer use, and do you need windows or peripherals?

 

The FX 6300 can handle probably an r9 270 without bottlenecking it.

Budget is around £600, need windows but got everything else. I will use the computer for gaming and a little photoshop work. I live in the UK.

I would recommend grabbing an FX-8320 if you can so you can use that R9 290.
