So I got myself a Gigabyte GTX970 and I have noticed that it drops GPU and Memory clock when playing something and as a result of that my fps drops, which is very annoying. Here is a link to monitoring file I got from the gigabyte oc guru app when I was playing the crew, you can see that memory sometimes drops from 7012 to 6010 and even as low as 1620mhz and the gpu from 1114 to as low as 899. I want to ask is this thermal throttling or is it something else and can I fix it somehow?

I don´t think it´s thermal throttling.

 

Try this:

Disable steamoverlay in every non steam game, MSI afterburner DISABLED. No apps running in the background.

Desktop *rightklick*-> Nvidia control center ->3D settings ->Global settings -> search for "Shadercache" set it to "DISABLE"->search for "maximal limit of prerendered images" set it to "1". If you have cpu hungry games, you can specify that game in the nvidia control panel right to the global settings tab and search your game.

 

If this doesn´t work. Activate Vsync (if you reach more than 60fps)

I did all that and there are less drops and they are less annoying but it still happens from time to time.

Hmm, can you try to set your realtek sample rate(If you already have 16bits 44100khz selected its ok) to 16bit, 44100khz and try again? (if you own an realtek audio chip)

I did change the format in windows settings, also disabled my monitor speakers but I still get some drops.
