Motherboard Choice?

Go to solution Solved by TheMidnightNarwhal,

Hi, people.

I'm currently seeking a new motherboard for my system. Although, I can't seem to find a board that fits my needs exactly.

It needs to ba an ATX LGA1150 socket, and it needs to be z97 for future Devil's Canyon support and be under $200. Also, my system is built up on the a-little-too-mainstream black theme with red accents, so the looks need to be down those lines.

I've been looking at the Maximus VII Ranger, and i'll be going with that if there isn't a cheaper choice.

Thanks!

I would go with the Ranger, because I like the features it has but if you don't want all the little extras just get a MSI gaming 7.

Yes. A lot online recently have been seeing their MSI mobos arrive with physcial damage, one guy I talked to owned a gaming 5 that needed to be RMA'd almost immediately.

I bought my Gaming 7 at Micro Center and It looks fine

I also got a 2 Year Warranty on it from them

Because he had a hard drive.

That's good, but a damn lot have still been complaining about their recent changes in QC, and I ain't gonna be having all my parts arrive ready to put together with a defect mobo. I'll be putting it on my watchlist though, thanks.

As for Gigabyte's Z97X-series, i've already used that series before and I'm not very fond of their stability or looks, honestly.

if you are on a budget I would go with the z97 Anniversary edition its nothing fancy but it gets the job done and you won't need todo bios updates

Way under budget, too slim and doesn't really fit my needs in color coordination. Thanks for the heads-up, though!
