ok i have started getting in to 3d modeling and rendering in maya and my amd phenom ii x4 955 is not doing all that well at it so i am thinking of upgrading to a fx8350 so what performance improvement will it have over my 955 in 3d rendering and if you know of a good cpu for 3d rendering fill free to tell me about it

my computer beats all computers in a 1,000 NM radius

there's a xeon that is basically the I7 without intrgrated graphics.

Xeon 1230 V3(finally remembered the one)

it is clocked slightly lower and can't be overclocked, but it's really cheap for what it is

well that is a little bit more money than i would like to spend and is about the same price as the 6 core haswell-e but thank you for the suggestion

a asus am3 with a 880g chipset

that won't support an FX-8350...you'll need a new motherboard as well mate.

i was planing on that

it's not worth buying an AM3+ motherboard and an old FX CPU at this point in time mate...save up some more for an i7 or an hyper-threaded xeon chip like the xeon 1231V3 for example...

this would be your most cost effective upgrade:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($241.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Motherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($72.98 @ Newegg)

Total: $314.97

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
