Computer Crashes when intensive task starts....

So, whenever I try to run a game and its even happened when my PC was sitting on the unlock screen for windows 8.1 it will crash. It doesn't say OC failed or anything it just crashes. I set my CPU and motherboard settings to default with no luck so then I restarted again. I got battlefield 4 to run but only at 11fps and my GPU was only using about 20% of the core. Whats the problem here. Nothing is different, I haven't installed any new drivers.

 

It kinda worries me, I hope my GPU or PSU didn't go bad :(

sounds like something either is overheating or isnt getting enough voltage. First, try taking the graphics card out and use the PC for basic stuff like youtube and email on the iGPU.

looked at bio; given that you are using h100i make sure the backplate is secured and you are getting proper contact between the CPU and the Cooler.  I had a similar issue when building with the h80i.

hmm... Background apps?  bad pump?  bad thermometer on CPU?  Try stress testing CPU w/intel XTU and check thermals

WOOOO, I hit 100°C within about .5sec with small FFT's in Prime95. So thermal paste most likely?

Replaced paste and reattached, its not moving around so assuming the backplate is fine yet my problem still exists.

Try using the stock heatsink; you could have a bad pump

How do you check a power supply?

Install HWMonitor, and watch the 12+ rail while doing something that makes it crash, if it drops below 11.4v AT ALL it is a voltage regulation issue.
