Cheap storage solutions?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Internal. Those externals were a mistake for me to get in the first place and have only caused a lot of problems ive never had on internals over time. (They were very cheap models though to be fair).

I'm looking for 2 to 4 TB of space because i have quite a large library of games and movies and music etc.

How's this look? http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/seagate-internal-hard-drive-st3000dm001

Hey there, i live in Australia, land of the overpriced. I have two old seagate expansion drives, which are some crappy external hard drives that were meant to be used temporarily. A combination of factors caused my finances to get pretty tight at the moment but the problem is the drives are on their way out. they were cheap to begin with and they are a few years old each and are typically run for quite a lot of time with a fair amount of files being written to them. I can't create new folders on one of them, i get an error, and i can't access certain broken folders either.

So i don't have much money, but i need a new storage solution pretty badly. What is cheap and effective, but good enough to play games off without causing issues and also has a decent reputation? I very much would like solutions to get pretty soon because i'm already at a point where my computer will not recognise one of my external hard drives until i unplug the external from its power source and plug it back in sometimes.

Yeah that one looks good, if you're recommending it i think i'll just choose that one. Seagate makes me a little nervous because i haven't had the best experience with their external drives i bought years and years ago but i'll give it a shot.

Thanks for the help Salacar3 and WoodenMarker

The Seagate Expansion drives aren't that well padded for vibrations or for cooling. The Desktop Barracuda drive is much better.
