Overkill PC

Is an Intel 5820k, 970 sli, and 16GB of DDR4 overkill?

 

Or should i go with a 4770k, 970 sli, and 16GB of DDR3?

 

Please help.

I wouldn't really call that overkill, they are both fairly similar spec and price wise. It depends on what you plan to do with your system.

the only problem with an Amd cpu is that like 2 amd cores = 1 intel core in performance

4790k, you can go for an x99 build, but it will be more expensive for sure.

i5-4690k, 8GB DDR3, 2x970 (in SLI) will crush games. No reason to overspend. Even the 4770k is overkill for gaming.

For gaming, you'll usually get less than 5 more frames per second. For photoshop, you shouldn't get a huge benefit. If you really want the fastest computer that does everything you throw at it and makes your friends jealous, go ahead for X99 and the 5820k.
