I just want a pretty good computer for gaming at ultra settings.

Also, some editing and basic everyday computer needs.

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or changes I should make to improve this build.

My budget is about the 1000$ mark

Any and all comments would be helpful! Thank you!

I've got to argue against that, my pal is running that same core setup and gets solid 50 minimum and 60 avg fps on ultra. The 760 4gb is an awesome little card.  (his rig, fx 8350 oc @ 4.9ghz, and asus 760 4gb, 16gh 2400mhz corsair ram)

That 970 build is more than a $100 more, might consider finding other ways to trim it down if you're on a budget.

Recommend a good cooler, and go for a 990FX m/board and then if you need to get a 2nd GPU later date when you can afford to it will be good to get the best m/board you can afford now.

Change the hard drive to a SSHD (hybrid drive) also from seagate and not much difference in price.

got to love Asus components

Actually it does run most tripple A titles at 60fps ultra, you may have to turn down AA off in some games like far cry but other than that its quite solid.

As much as I love Intel Processors, I just dont see how 4 cores is better than 8? I am an Engine man. 8 pistons means more Power. Why would 4 give me more? Its also more expensive, as anything with the Intel name is. 8 core intel processors are really expensive! Plus, its a 3.2 GHz vs. a 4.0 GHz. Why go with a lower core and GHz standard?

I see, however I am not a fan of MSI products. The biggest change in my build and the one @EarthboundHero proposed is the Graphics card. How much better is the one he proposed? Is it enough to go the extra 100$?

Definitely worth it. The thing about the core is, a single intel core is stronger than a single amd core. Basically, compare a punch from a beefy steroid guy  and a guy that is a stick with no muscle. Are both punches gonna make the same impact? :P

Yes the GPU is worth it. You'll be able to do max 1080P with max AA 60+FPS in most games. Also Intel cores are stronger than AMD cores. So for gaming it's better, because gaming uses fewer stronger cores. Very few games need more than 4 cores anyways. And even at lower clocks Intel cores beat AMD cores.
