Deciding on a New CPU/APU

Hi. I was wondering what some good options for CPU/APU there were with my configuration. I have a decent one right now but I wanted something that was even better at processing

So here's the specs:

 

It has to be socket FM2 or FM2+

 

It Has to be an AMD processor

 

It has to be an Athlon or AMD processor

 

Here is my motherboard if that helps and or in case there are more processors than just the Athlon and A series I can get

 

MSI A88XM Gaming

 

Also is it ok and beneficial in any way to have a discrete graphics card along with an APU

 

If so here is my Graphics card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270x 2gb

 

My RAM speed is also 2133 if that helps any

I have the AMD X4 760k.... For some things like Minecraft heavy processing games... the fps is not too good on higher settings. Is there anything better?

I think I might try the 6800k that you mentioned earlier. It looks as if that might do the trick.... I don't know for sure yet... might just wait and get a newer motherboard with a new processor... Another question.... Could I use the Radeon R9 above on an intel rig or not?

Yes, GPU's are not limited to one platform.

You ever consider overclocking? Your CPU and Mobo are both ready for some overclocking. If you're looking for extra performance get a aftermarket cooler and overclock that 760k. There's quite a difference at 4.5 GHz compared to 3.8 GHz. There's no sense in buying something like the A10-6800k as it's exactly the same thing CPU side except running at higher base clocks.
