Blank screen when waking computer up- is it a GPU problem?

Go to solution Solved by QueenDemetria,

I am wondering if this issue is with the GPU or not.

When I wake my computer up from sleep after the display turns off but before full sleep, all that is displayed is a blank screen.  The only way to fix this is to restart the computer.

So far, I have disabled hybrid sleep and ran the system file checker.  Neither worked.

The problem went from happening once in a while, to happening quite often, to happening every time.

Is this a problem with the GPU, is it fixable?

Probably a driver issue. What GPU is doing this?

What driver are you using? The fact the problem appears to be getting worse makes it less likely to be a driver issue, but it is still worth asking. I know some of the latest fixes have included "blank screen after sleep" issues so it is worth looking into the new driver if you haven't updated already.

It's an XFX Radeon r9 280X

I'm running Catalyst Control Center v14.9  Edit: Just updated to 14.12  Time to see if it fixes anything.
