My friend recently built a computer and when it is under serious stress, Like running a 3d mark extreme test or sometimes in games will just freeze nothing fixes the freeze other than hard restarting with the power button. Any ideas?

Also there are no overlocks running.

1.) Maybe take the cooler off and double check that the thermal paste is as it should be? Maybe replace the paste anyway and see if that makes a difference.

2.) Ensure all drivers are up to date. Especially graphics drivers.

3.) Ensure your power supplying is providing enough power to each component.

4.) Room temperature can also greatly affect the heat of your computer. Maybe use air conditioning in the room to keep the temperature down.

Give us temps under stress, try to memtest for about 8 hours, try to reinstall drivers, maybe it's your PSU.
