NVidia SLI question

I have a question regarding graphics cards in two way SLI mode. My question is can ANY two cards run in two way SLI or do they need to be identical? Thanks in advance ☺

they need to be the same model

970 sli's only with Another970

but they can have diffrent coolers

so GIGABYTE WINDFORCE 970 can sli with ASUS STRIX 970

but you can't SLI 2 Diffrent models

like a 970 sli with 980.

They need to be the same Model (GTX___) and have the same amount of VideoRam, anything else doesn't matter.

VRAM and core spec need to be identical otherwise you can match up any cards you have.

 

 

Examples

 

GTX 760 2GB w/ GTX 760 2GB = Ok

GTX 760 4GB w/ GTX 760 2GB = Not ok

GTX 780 3GB w/ GTX 780 Ti 3GB = Not ok

 

With current cards the lowest end Nvidia GPU that supports SLI is the GTX 760, the 750/750 Ti and lower do not support SLI.
