so im planning on buying this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/hp3KGX i've spent a couple days picking it out along with some help from this forum, and with tax it will cost about $1900, plus the k70 keyboard and w monitors, my question is, will this build last for the next couple of years with minimal improvements, and should i go with the i7-4790K instead of the i5-4690K so i dont have to get the h100i, both the i7-4790K and i5-4690K+h100i will cost about the same

We can't look into the future to see what requirements the games will have.

Current rig: CPU: AMD FX-8120  Cooling: Corsair H100i  Mobo: ASRock 970 Extreme 3  RAM: 8GB 1333Mhz  GPU: MSI GTX 660Ti Power Edition  Case: Fractal Design Define R4  Storage: 2TB Seagate HDD + 128GB Crucial SSD  PSU: be quiet! 730W bronze

no build can be guaranteed to "last".   DDR4 just got released; that will soon be standard.  Intel is supposed to move to a new socket soon.  Cooler mounting hardware my not be available for new mobs depending on future changes.

Want a good game to play?  Check out Shadowrun: http://store.steampowered.com/app/300550/ (runs on literally any hardware)

Things I would change:

  • 8GB of RAM
  • 1TB HDD
  • Better PSU
  • No ODD
  • Get Windows from G2A

Change these and you'll have more money to upgrade if you feel that's necessary.

i picked 16gb because it was suggested for gaming and webbrowsing

and i probably will drop down to 1tb, i dont used that much now

idk what odd is.

so is it worth waiting untill everything comes out, or just upgrade to it in a year or so when they work out the bugs and make it even better?

get something now and don't worry about it :)  Wait a few years until you NEED that stuff and then get it, but don't wait and not have a cool system now.

I wasn't saying it was bad, but there are better solutions for the money.

Linus said if you run a lot of Tabs on chrome or whatever web browser you are using and also gaming in the progress then you can max out 8 Gb of RAM fast.

The EVGA NEX is pretty average. I would still take the Antec.

Shame the op isn't in the USA, as the G2 is currently on offer for $69.99.
