Headphone Rack Ideas

I came across this sketch of a headphone rack idea(s) in one of my notepads and figured I would throw it up on the forums to get the ball rolling. In some video or another, Linus had mentioned something about suggesting these & I remembered I had drawn this at that time & nothing else about it; which made me laugh for obvious reasons when I discovered it. The idea is to “frame” the headphone rack to give it that sort of modern 3D art feel, but leave it completely flexible so that you could go in any range of styles, from completely modern, to country craft, to steampunk.

 

The idea is multi-tiered and inter-mixable but comes in two more palatable flavors.

 

1) Paint a section of drywall in a catching color (LMM red maybe), frame it with some simple wall decorations, attach hooks to the studs through the drywall and hang your phones.

 

2) Remove a section of the drywall, then replace it with a section of either treated wood or steel (depending on tastes), attach the custom hooks to studs or base, then frame it with something extravagant like brushed copper or custom made art/modern framing.

 

After seeing how they've gone with the all-room water cooling setup, I think the combination of aged steel or a painted background with brushed copper framing would complement the workroom’s style nicely; although I also favor the idea of a fancier border paired with sled hooks for that vintage look.

 

 

 

Two side notes:

 

-Before posting this, I did make one adjustment to this image, the addition of the oil-cooled PC which has been installed into the cabinet next to the stereo peripherals—I like the idea of doing something unique with it to show it off instead of simply setting it on a desk.

 

-Next to that is a picture which you can clearly see has been labeled as Linus & Luke. If you are wondering why they appear to be so ripped, it is because they have been sarcastically mocking Ubisoft’s continued blunders so much recently, that it has simulated over a thousand man-hours of digging with an actual shovel, causing them both to become hulkified.
