processor:amd fx8320

graphics card: tri x r9 290(i will try to push up to gtx 970)

ram:kingston hyperx

storage:wd blue 1tb

motherboard:msi am3 sb950 970(is this motherboard ok?)

case:cooler master atx k282

power supply:cooler master g500 500w

Get the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ motherboard instead. I don't trust MSi AM3+ motherboards because a lot of older Intel/AMD MSi ones have a high failure rate in comparison to other brands. Asus and ASRock are also questionable unless you dish out a ton of money for the higher end boards like the Sabertooth R2.0 or the Impact/Rampage, which are 990FX AM3+ boards. Revision 1 (R1.0) Sabertooth from Asus is junk.

970 mobos aren't suited for overclocking in most cases so you should be extremely careful even at stock speeds on an 8-core part. I suggest getting the FX-8320E because it is lower TDP at stock voltages and can overclock about as well as an 8320 or 8350 but with lower voltage and slightly less heat. The heat is the real problem because the VRMs can't tolerate higher than like 56C (easy to hit with 8-core CPUs) and this 970A board doesn't have decent heatsinks on them. It's great quality other than that; enough power phases to manage an 8-core CPU, high quality mosfets and all, good features,..

Yeah. That's the only thing I'd change. Gigabyte 970A UD3 motherboard, and if you're interested in overclocking or you want to be safe you should get an 8320E. Eventualy you will want a decent CPU cooler as well, and better airflow in the case to keep the VRMs from getting too hot if you do want to push past 4.2-4.4ghz.

Sorry for the late reply..

Not to be critical as I definitely did not look hard enough to see a location posted, but that's definitely a high-priority piece of information and should always be included in the top part of your post if you want people to always notice it.

I'm not about to try and find Malaysian distributors to figure out the cheapest motherboards, but low-mid tier ASRock (Pro 4/Extreme 3 would be my lower budget recommendations)(in terms of price). They can work but you'd definitely have to get an 8320E. Keep in mind the 970 chipset is optimally suited for 95W or less CPUs, with a 110-130W threshold depending on the heatsinks on the motherboard. Above that is risking failure in a longer-term situation unless the quality is good. The UD3P/UD3 are rated quite well.

Something I forgot to mention is that the MSi SB950 is a motherboard I have never heard about, nor can I find on their site (which should include legacy support for discontinued mobos). It sounds more like a scam or an extremely fault MSi motherboard that is no longer made than anything.

If you wanna go MSi, go with the G43 PC Mate if you have no options.

If you cannot find a motherboard I've suggested yet for cheap enough, refer to this guide on VRM quality, 8-core and overclock stability/reliability before purchasing if you haven't already: http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database

I use this all of the time, very reliable.

If you want 10-20 minutes of my time and are lazy/are confused by the information above, list the well-stocked site(s) for motherboards that ship/sell to Malaysia so I can take a look myself. I'll try my best to be quick about it and the chances are high that I'll give you the best, most cost-effective but non-crap motherboard suggestion available to you..

If none of this is appealing to you, simply drop down to an FX-6300/6 core part (6300/6350 are literally the only ones worth purchasing unless the prices are bonkers - and by that I mean an FX 6-core that is suitable should be roughly 35-55% cheaper than an 8350, in which case come back to me on it). Intel can be an option if the prices give you the opportunity despite what many think. I'm not talking changing to i5-4430/4460 parts, I'm talking even cheaper i5 builds that are faster or pretty comparable to OCed FX 6-cores and slightly OCed FX 8-cores.

I'd put a tl;dr but I afked for a while and forgot what I was getting at. Again, I'm sorry. If you have further questions just quote and ask and I'll try to respond if I have time or answers.
