An ocean of computerproblems

NodCommander

Hey LTT people.

Ive been posting about two of my issues already which has been solved, so here it goes again:

The first problem I have is with my motherboard. I reinstalled Windows 7 on it yesterday, and ever since I did that, its been giving off one single long beep at each boottime. Ive been unable to find any error-codes about my specific board. Perhaps someone with the right knowledge here can help me out? The motherboard Im using is a Gigabyte 990FX UD5 AM3+ motherboard.

The second problem I have has been with this computer as far as I can remember. It happens inside of Windows. Despite having replaced my SSD once from an Intel 320 to a Samsung 840 EVO, motherboard (Same model, but rev 1.0 to a 3.0, was due to a RMA case) and having reinstalled Windows 7 serveral times, Im still recieving an error message every time I try and move, rename or create a file or folder telling me it could not find the "object". This is driving me absolutely insane. Ive used the same installation image to install Windows 7 on my laptop, and theres never been any problems on this.

A highly speculative suspect from my own part would be the 990FX chipset, but perhaps someone else has any better guesses?

First problem: Are you sure it's not a single short beep, as that signifies a successful boot and will happen every time you start the computer. I don't see any error codes on that board for a single long beep.

Second problem: I'm fairly certain this issue comes from the image you are installing from. It sounds like the hardware config (number of drives and locations) on the original install that the image was created from is too different from the current setup you are running. I would definitely recommend trying a clean install of Windows not from an image and see what happens.

^ This.

For the second problem, you should just get a clean copy of windows and make a bootable flash drive. You really only need an 8GB flash drive if you don't have one and they are dirt cheap.
