It'll work for a while until the motor burnt itself out most likely since your overvolting it.

 

And I'm assuming you mean 140mm fans.

No. I mean 40mm. Not for a coputer but a project.]

Most have voltage rating on them. Often they can take 20% more than that, but it will reduce lifetime.

Oh ok I was assuming the R2 since they fit 120/140mm fans.

 

Most 40mm fans are very efficient but I do know Noctua makes some smaller sized ones, maybe take a look at them
