Hi everyone, im from Australia and i've been wanting to get into pc gaming and have decided to get it custom built from

http://www.mwave.com.au/cpc/configure/51

I'll be using it for gaming to play games such as GTA V, far cry 4, COD,  the crew etc and normal everyday use.

My budget is around $1400-$1600 AU and that is not including any peripherials and monitor, however i will be getting a 24' 1080p monitor around $200-$300 and need some advice on what to get.

This is what i have selected from the above link so far and would like to know if there are any changes to make that can improve it:

Few questions, firstly, why can't you build this yourself? $19 to install a Hyper 212? $50 to put the rest of the stuff together? It's adult lego dude. I built 2 systems in the past 2 weeks and each took less than an hour to fully assemble. It's comically simple and straightforward.

I suggest the 4690K chip not the 4690. The non K CPU can not overclock. If you want to save some money go down to a cheaper H97 board and keep your plain jane 4690.

The only advantage of Z97 other than overclocking is full SLI/CFX support.

Build looks good. I like EVGA's 600B better than Corsair CX600 and it should be the same price.

Intel Inside. Overweight guy in his 30's outside.

I've never attempted to build one before and i would like to learn but its quicker to get it custom built, plus since im paying for it i dont want to damage anything $1500 is alot of money for me to spend.

dont worry about damaging anything. as long as you discharge yourself of any static electricity by touching any metal, or wearing a antistatic wrist strap you'll be fine. as for build times.. your first build might take upwards of 2 hours since its your first time. If you're planning to attempt the build yourself (which is A LOT of fun) you should plan on watching a few videos on youtube demonstrating how to build. since you're spending 1500 you might as well have the joy of opening the boxes yourself and building it, its an experience thats really addicting.

Same thing as Mistersprinkles mention, either upgrade the 4690 to a K variation so you can overclock or downgrade the mobo to a H97. Also get an SSD for your OS if you can afford to, it speeds up your computer's boot time so much and other applications that you put on it. It's not essential, but it's an upgrade that a lot of people appreciates. :)

Exactly, upgrade to the unlocked version. If you add an SSD you can also downgrade to a seagate hard drive or a WD green.

Correctomundo! Get an SSD and switch over to a WD Blue and save yourself $30! And by save, I mean allocate it to the SSD haha.

Crucial MX100 are great for their price. 120 gb is good enough for just the OS but I recommend getting at least 256 for the OS and a few applications you like to use a lot.

yeah, basically 120 will only be good for the OS and like one or two of those newer games that are like 40gb+.. keep in mind that on an OS drive you should leave a few GB for windows to expand for files that it'll download.

Yeah. I have a 120 in my rig and I don't have anything in it and it's full already. I shoulda have opt for a bigger drive, too bad they were so expensive when I bought mine. :(

Well, I wouldn't recommend downloading every single game into the drive haha. Only games that benefits it like the loading screen for BF4 and such. But you have a big drive, so you can. :P

16 gig ram kit is the normal to have nowadays,

look into a SSHD (solid state hybrid drive) for all your games and storage and then a SSD for o/s, if you just have the o/s and word or something you can get away with a 120 gig, but no less as windows does updates you need some room. 256 if you can afford it. but if you keep it clean a 120 gig drive will be fine.

i would also try to keep simular manufacture make for the components and not a big jumble of all kinds of different manufactures.

for the price of the assembly and all that other stuff you can get a 120 gig SSD and build it yourself, watch the Linus videos, or TastyPC, or any other professional builders videos. assemble in a non carpet area if you can with anti static strap and if you want to go the full distance clean new latex gloves is also good, i normally wear gloves and a strap.

got to love Asus components

I partially agree with the manufacture thing since it'll be a lot easier to register all your products and less companies to deal with..

as for 16gb ram, i'm not quite sure about that, 16gb is a good number, 8gb is probably the minimum you want to run for a gaming build, 16 might be preferred. If you can afford 16gb you should go for that.
