Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and hope I'm posting this into the right category.

So, I'm looking for a new mouse and yeah, right now I use a Roccat Kova + which is worn out.

First the glue started melting, k, cleaned it out and it's fine.

Now it started randomly making double/tripple clicks or not registring me clicking left or even right. I think it's the switches.

So, k, need a new one.

I don't need extra buttons or lighting, just a plan left/right/middle/scroll -typish mouse.

Changing the dpi 'd be nice but I use my current one at pretty standard 800dpi.

And I currently claw-grip it (I used to palm it but yeah, I'm 16 and my hands are getting bigger).

What I am not comfortable with the kova is the tracking, because at 800dpi it isn't exactly accurate to my movement, It's like stair-ish (even if I dial up dpi and sensibility down for same pointer speed).

So, nothing too shiny, the best d' be a sleek design without a rubbery-softtouch-kinda-surface, because they do wear off and get greasy over time. Should be quite durable and easy to clean.

A nice feature to have d' be the mouse to lower its DPI if the right button is pressed. And being able to toggle that feature on/off would be nice. But I will only use that in Windows.

Probably something like a Steelseries Sensei? I've heard that tracking of that one is very nice.. but yeah, my dad is gonna kill me for the price xD (not literally, he just won't let me buy it, even if I pay with my own money)

He uses a 5-bucks mouse all day and is fine but I don't want to because yeah, it's a 5 bucks mouse (quality n size n tracking n stuff).

So it shouldn't be that expensive.

Oh, and yeah: I use it with mac and windows, so it should be plug n play and store the settings on the mouse itself. But I don't have to tweak the settings via mac os, only via windows.

So, what do you guys think? What mouse should I get?

I'm using a Logitech G700 and it is very comfortable. It can be used as wireless or wired. It's not that expensive around $70 it does have extra buttons but they are out of the way and are not easily unintentionally pressed.

first off: thanks for the quick answer. but I think my max is more like 50 bucks and like I said, I don't want a soft-touch-surface and that's because my hands get sweaty pretty easy and so these soft-touch-surface wear off for me pretty quick. but thanks for the answer.

So to simplify my needs:

no soft-touch-surface

no lighting

no extra buttons

good sweat resistance and overall build quality

no extra high dpi sensor

good tracking

not above 50 bucks

basic functionality driverless

maybe temporarily switching to low dpi when depressing right button

thanks.

Honestly, the only way to see if you like a mouse is to go to the store and try them. They all fit your hand slightly differently and you can't determine that just by reviews, some "really comfortable" mice might not fit your hand well. On the note of new Logitech softouch mice: it should last a really long time even as compared to previous generations of logitech mice so you shouldn't be too worried about that, other brands don't have the same surface so maybe not them.

I'm liking my CM Storm inferno.

There's improvements on the later version of Logitech G series mouses and all of them has sweat resistance and longer life span compared the previous versions. G400s and below models are using optical G500s and above models are lasers. And also, a good comfy mouse gives a little button for your daily use like pressing a button instead of combination of 2 or 3 keys at the same time. No fancy lightings, soft-touch surface probably the scroll wheel after an extremely long use? G400s is using optical, dpi range from 200~4000. Good tracking. Retailer price should be around $47USD. Driverless. Install the software and map any buttons from the keyboard to the mouse and uninstall them if you want because it has inbuilt memory. Just a small number of extra button though. Modern average premium mouses these days have atleast 1~3 empty button for leverage your needs.

Hope it covers all the needs. Good luck OP.
