Hi.

I want a system that I can log into and my colleague (singular) can log in to.

We both then drop files and can access them. Folder structure is retained and can be integrated to the desktop.

Solutions I've tried thus far:

OneDrive for Business - Is total shit. User management is cumbersome and I couldn't even get it to work. I use OneDrive for personal use and was hoping Business would have the problems

Google Apps/Drive - Works so poorly I'd rather it didn't work. Having to share every folder you want. F**K NO. I want a communal drive. Browser issues hang uploads, inteface and launch procedures slow me down.

DropBox for Business - Charges for 5 users ($85/month) when only using two users. Wasn't even signing up for a free trial at that rate.

Surely someone knows something that is actually useable, before I write my own/use an FTP server.

Thank you.

OwnCloud would be perfect as long as you have a spare computer laying around http://owncloud.org/

Absolutely awesome looking piece of software and one that I might keep in consideration when I need a platform I can customize. At this stage I don't have time to configure, and nor do I have a dedicated internet connection (mine works roughly 20 hours a day, and my friend has satellite so is intermittent connection at best).

Oh lord just get your own server and install owncloud on it. Not dropbox business. What the hell.

Or just use dropbox on a single account!? I mean if you dont need your own space just the sync that should be a ton cheaper

I have my own server, if I could have used it I would have, but it's locked down with a bunch of other stuff and I don't want to pay for and set up another one, either using OwnCloud or writing my own UI it would have taken more than four or five hours of work (and that's four hours I could spend being productive). Dropbox single account defeats the purpose, I need multi-users.

Dropbox works great and has all the features while being simple to use (and great phone UI). It's far too overpriced for what I need, but I wasn't going to spend hours during a busy period trying to get shit to work. I would have rather bought a return airfare to Hawaii or somewhere, but I was willing to pay for the convenience. And so I did, and the project that I'm working on on DropBox is certainly going to make back the $850 in the year I've got the account for.

OwnCloud is really amazing, but you can get tons of problems with you mess too much with it.

Don't recommend installing their server apps (notepad, calendars, ...), that had tons of bugs, before searching on their forums about them.

Yea look forward to playing with it when I get the time.
