No HDMI audio

Go to solution Solved by failblox,

Try getting the display driver for integrated graphics from your motherboard's website.

I don't use Windows Update for installing drivers... it always installs really old drivers that were outdated months ago. It's better to download them manually.

Also - don't use the disk that's bundled with your motherboard, because those drivers are usually outdated by a few months as well.

Edit: actually before doing all that, why don't you check if the audio device is even detected by looking under 'audio devices' (or something along those lines)

I'm using the HD4600 graphics in my 4771 on a Gigabyte B85M-DS3H with an HDMI cable.

I don't have audio.  The speaker icon on the system tray has the little X on it.   This is a fresh Windows 8.1 install on this new system.  Windows Update installed the Intel graphics driver and everything else that's available.

On the motherboard's bundled disc, I installed the RealTek audio driver so now I have the Realtek HD Audio Manager, but if it's supposed to help, I haven't figured out how.

Does any one have any ideas for me?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Roger. I'll try that.  I didn't figure audio drivers were subject to much change so I went for the disc.   But I'll go to the website.

Also, updating your BIOS might help. Even if it doesn't solve the problem it can't hurt to update it unless you do it wrong then you brick your motherboard

Naw, man.  The driver from Gigabyte's website fixed it.  I'm a 'tard.   :)

Thanks.

Np. Don't forget to use the marked solve button for threads :)

Might help people in the future if they see it marked as solved...who knows.
