You don't "set-up" the UEFI. It's there with all the settings set to what is needed. You only really go into the UEFI to adjust settings like fan speed, SATA mode (RAID&AHCI), Overclocking or relatively simple stuff like that. There is no need to set it up

You dont have to setup anything, just install the OS on your SSD and thats it.

Note: after installing the OS make sure the SSD is the boot drive

This is just the guide on how to set up windows on a board with a UEFI. This is not discussing setting up the UEFI itself

When I'm installing the OS it will install into the SSD as long as it prioritised in front of the HDD? Or does it not matter?

doesnt matter, but everybody prefer to put the OS SSD or HDD in the first SATA header

You pick the drive it installs onto (Probably the smallest drive is the SSD :D). After installation of windows go into the UEFI and make sure the SSD is at the top of the boot order priority

Not at all really, I have never seen a guide like this and have installed windows 8.1 numerous times without issues.

I'm really confusing myself... So if I press the usual f1 for f2 will it boot into text based BIOS or a UEFI?

Edit: I'm talking about first boot

F2 or delete (I think) will both bring you into the UEFI, text based bios is dead really.

Nope, also you can use mouse and keyboard in UEFI and it's much easier to use than a text based one. Can't wait to ditch this shitty Click bios 1 for Click bios 4 <3

Since you have a samsung 120 gb SSD if you put your OS on it how much room do you have for other applications?

After removal of the hibernate file by disabling hibernate and adjusting the pagefile to 1gb to 4gb on SSD and system managed on my HDD?

Windows folder for me (Few months old installation) is now 18GB but that's with all updates, Visual studio, etc.

So it's just 18 gb used for Windows and you've got around 100 gb free for other stuff?

120GB SSD = about 112GB in actuality because 1GB is not 1000MB but 1024, etc etc but yes.

Actually 1GB=1000MB, 1 GiB=1024MiB ;) Problem is Windows reports GiB as GB (something e.g. Linux does not, AFAIK).
