I just finished a game of dota, was sitting in the main menu...walked away for literally 30 seconds and came back to see my system giving me this error....

Any idea what proc'd it?

Normally it is due to a hardware change...

If you have anything abnormal plugged into your computer(ie a flashdrive for example) unplug it and restart.

Nothing other than my keyboard/mouse.

That's very odd, maybe a virus came in and took it out(unlikely on newer systems)

Regardless, do you have a recovery disk handy? It will normally fix it with a repair.

hmmm, my AIO seems to be abnormally hot for just playing dota....I wonder if something might have overheated...

but why would that proc a bootmgr corrupt

I know @terrytek got this when he tried to put in his new HDD. RIP

yeah, no...I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my cpu getting very very hot....

hopefully it didn't burn itself out.

Any estimates on how long it would take for an AIO and cpu to cool off -- wanna know how much time I have to do some things. (the rad feels like its 35~c)

My parents old PC cooled with basically stock cooler took about 20 minutes.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

It's likely unrelated but, you could check your CPU temps in bios as it should still be accessible.

If it got too hot(~90C) it would have likely shut itself down assuming you didn't disable that feature in BIOS.

Anyway, either launch your recovery disk or build a bootable usb and run a windows repair or one of the tools to repair to bootmgr.

The bootmgr tends to get corrupt/go missing frequently but normally it is due to the addition/removal of hardware.

Well, the only reason why I assumed they were related is the last thing I saw was my cpu was at 80ºc in the bios, and then I wasn't able to power on my computer at all but just got a flashing blue light on my board.

Do you remember anything specific about the lights?

The lights will flash in a specific order to indicate the error code.

I would give it a few minutes then boot it up and sit in bios and monitor temps for maybe 5 mins.

If everything looks normal proceed with the bootmgr repair.

Nothing looks abnormal.

try:

bootrec /RebuildBcd

and allow it to rebuild the boot partition.

Where would I type that in? (on the page that I ss'd above it says 'bootrec is not recognized as an internal or external commend, operable program, or batch file).

I finally managed to pull up the bootable USB....for some reason it's not wanting to work...

Anyway, I finally got to the install/repair windows section. I clicked repair windows and it rebooted into:

And now when I try to boot off the USB I get directed straight to that screen.
