i'm doing the review for the final exam the teacher gave me, and one of the questions is "how does the supreme court feel about hate crimes?" i'm thinking that they give heftier sentences to crimes based on hate. is that right?

That's a pretty vague question. Are you supposed to cite cases or anything?

Sounds like a dumb question to me. Courts are supposed to be a place of a presentation of evidence and interviews to determine the outcome, not have an greater opinion on a specific type of case over another.

the supreme court does not impose sentencing or penalties, they rule on areas

of grave in difference or where there is a decision needed to base all further laws

from.
